James M. Smith
JAMES MICHAEL SMITH (James) was born in Mt. Olive, Alabama in 1969. He graduated cum laude from Samford University in 1990, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1995 and earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence cum laude from Cumberland School of Law in 1998. He is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Curia Honoris and Order of the Barristers. While in law school, Mr. Smith was a Cordell Hull Fellow and managing editor of the Cumberland Law Review. After law school, he served as law clerk to the Honorable Hugh Maddox, Associate Justice, Supreme Court of Alabama. Mr. Smith’s practice areas include appellate practice, insurance coverage, insurance defense, mass tort /class action defense, construction defect, product liability, creditor rights, fraud, bad faith, and nursing home and long-term care defense.
